Tragic and brutal are just some of the few words that you can use to describe the horrible death of Melissa Maravilla Gracia, a 17-year-old student in Cavite. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds all around her body which could have potentially killed her in an instant.
The girl identified by authorities as Melissa Maravilla Magracia became the top trending topic in the news feed of Facebook last weekend after a farmer noticed her dead body half-submerged in a river in Cavite province. She was still wearing her high school uniform when the police personnel arrived at the crime scene.
The mysterious death of the girl was immediately investigated by the Philippine National Police(PNP) based on the initial report made by her family a week ago.
In the preliminary investigation report, Melissa Maravilla Magracia allegedly left home on December 6, 2016 to meet her chat buddy on Facebook. The man allegedly convinced her to take a photo shoot session to improve her reputation in the modeling industry. Melissa trusted the man since they had been chatting since November using the Facebook messenger app.
In the chat conversation record, the man reportedly introduced himself as a previous Overseas Filipino Worker(OFW) who worked as a seaman. From the same chat log, the suspect offered P15,000 as initial payment for the planned pictorial.
The OFW successfully convinced Melissa for a personal meeting that was scheduled at the vicinity of Cavite State University. Without having second thoughts, Melissa Magracia accepted the offer of the suspect. She left home on December 6 and since then she failed to return for days.
The parents of Melissa became too worried about the situation. They tried to check her Facebook account but for unknown reasons it was fully deactivated and no longer visible to anyone.
With the help of Indang police, the following message was posted on social media to seek the assistance of the netizens.

Then five days had passed, a cold lifeless body of Melissa shocked the entire family. A certain farmer discovered her dead body at around 9:45a.m on December 11, 2016. She was lying down at the riverbank with her skirt lifted to her waist causing her pink underwear to be exposed.
Though the remains of Melissa was already decomposing, the detectives were hopeful that they could extract vital evidence that would prove if the victim was raped or not. The result of the autopsy revealed that Melissa was r@ped by the criminal.
The crime that took place in the woods in Cavite could have been left unnoticed by the neighboring communities since the suspect planned it well before executing the sexual assault and murder.
Background of the suspect involved in the rape-slay of Melissa Magracia
According to the testimony of Melissa's mother, the suspect was allegedly their previous neighbor. He works as a welder in a certain shop in Cavite.
The 31-year-old suspect was identified by the PNP detectives as Elrick Mojica Vidallo who lives at Barangay Harasan, Indang, Cavite. The police officers captured him at his residence. Elrick Mojica did not resist the arrest.
This is Elrick Mojica, the man who allegedly r@p3d and murdered the teenager in Cavite.
At the police precinct, Elrick Mojica repeatedly denied the allegation that he r@p3d and killed the 17-year-old student of AMA Computer School in Dasmariñas City.
Though the r@pist was immediately arrested by the police, the family and relatives of Melissa are hoping that justice will be easily served.
